THE N.Y.A.C. INVITATION TOURNAMENT
The annual Intercollegiate Invitation tournament was held at the N.Y.A.C. on December 21. The field included 28 men representing 18 colleges. The final round-robin of 9 was dominated by the three metropolitan colleges (C.C.N.Y., Columbia, and N.Y.U.) with Navy and Buffalo having one representative each.
Norman Lewis, star of the N.Y.U. foil team, swept through 15 bouts without a single setback. His teammate, Castello, was tied with Lubell and Kaplan, both of C.C.N.Y., for runner-up honors. Castello took second and Lubell third on the count of touches made.
Hanger, of Navy, and Wells, of Buffalo, gave a good account of themselves in the final round, but the superior experience of the New Yorkers proved too big an obstacle to overcome.
