en DOW CAPTURES FOIL TITLE

Warren Dow captured the Metropolitan Foil Championship on the strips of the Salle Vince on Saturday, Feb. 15th. There was a triple tie for first place between Dow, Darnell Every, and Emil Goldstein. The first fence-off resulted in another complete deadlock and it began to look like an all-night affair. In the second fence-off, however, Dow scored two victories which gave him the title.

John Huffman and Julio Castello tied for 4th place, John winning it on touches. Alessandroni just managed to beat out Cantor by one touch for 6th place. "Chips" Cantor, a good sabre man, came 7th ahead of Bill Pecora, which was an upset. A few flank cuts hampered "Chips", but on the whole he fenced well. Maurice Granson was the ninth finalist. Although only a sophomore at Yale, he has made the finals of a senior competition 3 times.
