The state Jr. Épée championship was won by Lt. Starbird of the Pentathlon squad. L. Leonard was third, while Robert Carey was second. Since neither of the Army men qualify from this division, their places in the semi-finals of the national Jr. championship will be taken by Ernest Lay and Richard Clune. There were nine contestants who fenced a round robin for the title.

The state Jr. Sabre championship was won by S. Thompson Stewart of the Salle Vince. “Chips” Cantor was second and Jim Hutchinson third. Todd Harris nosed out Jim Flynn by one touch for fourth. The qualifiers from New Jersey were Flynn and Hutchinson. There were five contestants, one director and no spectators at the Commonwealth Club in Upper Montclair. As a result, the tournament was over in 55 minutes—surely a record of some sort!
