en U.F.C. WINS FENCE-OFF FOR EPEE CUP

The U.F.C. defeated the Fencers Club "A" team in a fence-off to decide the Washington Square Epee Team competition. Max Röhmer defeated Tommy Sands 2-1, Warren Dow lost to Gus Heiss 2-1, and Jose de Capriles won over Hugh Alessandroni 2-0.

This competition is held in three pools, each a round robin of the 1, 2, and 3 men of each team respectively. There were fourteen teams entered, so each man fenced thirteen bouts. The total number of bouts won by each member of the team makes up the team's score. Both the U.F.C. and the Fencers Club had 30 victories and 9 defeats at the conclusion of the day's fencing, thus necessitating the fence-off. Gus Heiss and Jose de Capriles tied for the individual high score by winning 12 bouts each. The West Point Officers Club placed third with 28 wins and 11 losses.
