John Huffman successfully defended his title of Metropolitan Sabre Champion at the Fencers Club on February 23rd.

The end of the 9-man round robin found Leo Nunes, Sam Stewart, and Peter Bruder tied for second place with six wins and two losses. They finished in that order.

The inability of Mike de Capriles to place better than 7th was a surprise, considering his excellent performance this season, while Jim Hutchinson, who has qualified for several finals in the tryouts, was eliminated in the preliminaries. Dr. Mack, a familiar figure on any sabre final strip, also failed to qualify.

Sam Stewart and Johnny Huffman both went through the competition with only 2 losses, but unfortunately for Sam, his two were in the finals.
