FENCERS CLUB WINS TEAM CROWN
The Fencers Club defeated the Salle d’Armes Vince 5-4 to win the Senior Foil Team Championship. Apparently, a team must have at least one sabre man to win in foil. Nickolas Muray and Irving Cantor, both sabre men of note, fought with Hugh Alessandroni for the Fencers Club, while Thompson Stewart, the present Jr. Sabre Champion, fenced for the runner-up club. It was Nick Muray who won the deciding bout for his team.
Joseph Barmack, of the Salle Vince, was easily the star of the evening. His wide circular parries and semi-straight arm defense made him a difficult man to hit. Warren Dow, fencing for the University Fencers Club, was very much off form. He lacked the precision which gained for him the Metropolitan title a few weeks ago.
