RIVERDALE WINS CHAMPIONSHIP
Led by Jack Zaugg, the Riverdale Country School won the Private School Team Championship held at the Fencers Club. Riverdale downed the Trinity School 5-2 in the final round, thus ending Trinity’s seven-year supremacy. The winning team is coached by Mr. Boris Von Arnold who, as many of us will recall, was Pacific Coast champion in 1926 and 1928. The Riverdale team consisted of Jack Zaugg, Eric Fraenkl, and Solon Palmer.
The individual title was won by Zaugg, who continued his fine performance of the team match and made a clean sweep of his 11 bouts in the individual tournament. Bill Martin, captain of the Trinity team, placed second with only one defeat. The third medal went to Fraenkl on touches after tying with Dustin Lynch of Trinity.
