TIME THRUSTS
Richard F. Warren, of the Philadelphia Sword Club, was presented with a sabre and mask by the Haverford College fencers in appreciation of the many meets he directed for them…not only to their satisfaction, but also, strangely enough, to that of all their opponents-----that must establish a record of some sort.-----About twenty-five conscientious people attended the last General Meeting of the League. When it came time to elect the National Nominating Committee these people carefully jotted down fifteen names from which they were to pick five… everyone studied his list carefully and then wrote five names on a piece of paper… When these twenty-five had cast their vote, Mr. Hanway produced about 150 proxies made over to the proxy committee… Naturally, the five names he selected were automatically chosen, but at least the conscientious 25 had some fun… When it came time to select the non-divisional nominating committee one kind soul proposed that the 25 be spared the trouble of writing names down again.-----Here’s a very curious fact about the National Championships in epee… The three leading epee men before the national event were Weber, M. de Capriles, and Sands in that order… Weber was put out in the preliminary round… de Capriles in the semi-final… Sands reached the final but placed sixth… and incidentally, Heiss, who stood at the bottom of the list as far as points went, won the Championship… Think that one over and see if you can make sense out of it.-----
