The beautiful Longshore Country Club at Westport was the scene of the State Outdoor Epee and Sabre championships last Sunday. The field of twenty included Weber, Grombach, Kunsig, Potter, Lubart, Hopner, and the de Capriles brothers from the Metropolitan District, as well as Joseph Levis from Boston.

Lt. Fred R. Weber carried away the honors in the epee, losing only to Miguel de Capriles in the final round. Jose de Capriles came second with two defeats, while Max Kapner and M. de Capriles tied for third and placed in that order on touches.

The Sabre, a round robin of seven men, was won by Jose de Capriles after a fence-off for the title with Philip Lubart. Lubart fenced in excellent style and was clearly the most effective man there, but he dropped his bout against Philip Viscidi, a Yale sophomore, thus necessitating a fence-off. Viscidi beat out M. de Capriles for third place.
