en THE GRECCO TROPHY TO DOW

The annual tournament for the Grecco foil trophy was won by Warren Dow at the Downtown Athletic Club from a field of sixteen fencers. The trophy is a cup, presented annually by Dr. Anthony Grecco, which may be kept by the man who wins it three times. Hugh Alessandroni needed only one more victory to retire the trophy, and he swept through the competition undefeated until he met Dow in the final bout of the evening. Warren Dow, who had also gone through without a defeat, put up a beautiful bout against the present National Champion and earned his first leg on the cup. Jose de Capriles placed third, losing only to Dow and Alessandroni. The other finalists were T. Green, M. Kapner, and D. Hall. S. Thompson Stuart Jr. directed the final pool and was assisted by Mr. A. Ferro, Mr. G. Breed, Mr. M. de Capriles, and Mr. M. Kapner. Aside from the trophy, Mr. Grecco presented each of the first three men with certificates.
