THE TAILTEANN GAMES IN DUBLIN
The revival of fencing in Ireland is signalized by the inclusion of the sport in the programme of the 'Tailteann Games.' Of historical origin, these games used to include the old sword duels. With the decline of fencing in Ireland, however, the sport was dropped. These games also include competitions of every kind, including Literature, Music, and Art in general.
It is proposed to organize a competition in Women’s Foil as well as men’s epee, foil, and sabre, open to all persons eligible to enter the Games. The Games are open to all who fulfill any one of the following conditions:
1. Being born in Ireland.
2. Having either parent born in Ireland.
3. Both paternal grandparents born in Ireland.
4. Both maternal grandparents born in Ireland.
(Clune and Donovan please note)
These Games should be a marvelous spectacle, and the time is specially convenient since they will take place just after the World Championships in Paris.
