Cleveland held the largest meet ever run in that section. It was the Exposition tournament which was a meet in five classes and drew an entry of 89. Michigan entered several, Buffalo two, and Illinois was represented by Righeimer. The fencing lasted all day Saturday and ended at 8:30 P.M. on Sunday. Cleveland won the trophy due largely to its greater number of entries, but Righeimer and Detroit went home with most of the individual medals.

The winners are:

Women’s Foil:
1. Beatrice Roberts, Detroit
2. Cornelia Sanger, Detroit
3. Virginia Wilhelm, Cleveland

Novice Foil:
1. Homer P. Kerr, Cleveland
2. Lawrence E. Chamberlain, Cleveland
3. Robert E. Benson, Cleveland

Open Foil:
1. Frank S. Righeimer, Illinois
2. Charles Schmitter, Detroit
3. Alfred Sauer, Detroit

Open Epee:
1. Frank S. Righeimer, Illinois
2. George N. Gafford, Cleveland
3. Howard A. Hayden, Detroit

Open Sabre:
1. Charles Schmitter, Detroit
2. Howard A. Hayden, Detroit
3. Saul March, Detroit

Other winners in Cleveland are Miss Loretta Thomas, who won the first women’s event this season held at the Akron A.C., and Charles Hoff, who moved out of the men’s novice class. Homer P. Kerr, E.S. Kennedy, and E.I. Wallach placed in that order in an epee tournament.
