EGAN WINS HAMMOND NOVICE SABRE
Edward Egan, who holds the Saltus Club sabre championship, carried his club colors through a field of 24 to win the sabre donated each year by Dr. G. W. Hammond. Egan improved as the competition went on. He won 3 out of 5 in the preliminary round, 3 out of 4 in the semi-finals, and then made a clean sweep of his 5 matches in the finals.
Harvey Penick, of the Greco Fencing Academy, placed second with 3 wins, James Castello, of N.Y.U., came third, and Joe Robb (Greco), Max Goldstein (CCNY), and Marvin Blum (Yale) followed in that order.
