The following is a report received from the Funke Academy in San Francisco. The Division has scheduled 30 meets for the coming season. The Prep Foil for men, held at the Funke Fencing Academy, was won by Richard Mercer of the YMCA. Second place went to John R. Shattuck of the University of California, while third was won by Chandler Smith of the YMCA.

In the team competition for the Heron Trophy, five five-man teams competed. The Olympic Club and the Funke Fencing Academy, fencing with a fixed handicap, could only manage to take third and fourth respectively. First place went to Stanford University, second to the University of California, while fifth was won by the YMCA.

The Prep Sabre was won by Glen Vail of the Army and Navy YMCA, after two fence-offs. The place winners were Truman Clark of the Funke Fencing Academy, and Richard Mercer of the Central YMCA.

Another interesting item from the coast is the fact that Miss Helena Mayer has returned to the States after her triumphs in the Olympic Games. Miss Mayer, however, is eligible to fence in only two of the scheduled competitions out there.
