All those connected with the Olympics will be glad to hear that Mr. Al Hermann, who accompanied the team to Berlin and was such a great help while over there, is now going to open a fencing salle on East Oak street in Chicago----There is going to be a great exhibition at the Lake Shore Country Club under the auspices of the Chicago division...Jacob and Herman Krafft will fight with the broadswords. Jacob Krafft has held the world’s broadsword championship for the last 21 years, and his father, Harry, held it for a long time before him...Miss Marjorie Kunan, Pacific Coast Women’s Foil Champion, and Campbell Wilson, former Big Ten Foil Champion and present holder of the Midwest Epee title will put on an exhibition bout----A new fencing club has been organized in Dorchester, Mass., the hometown of Joe Levis...The girls’ division, consisting of 14 members, will soon be ready for competition under the guidance of Prof. Antonio Pappano.----An article in a French paper details that Prof. Gardere, coach of the French Olympic team, has been awarded 500 francs ($25.00), a diploma, and a gold medal for his efforts in preparing the team for the games and for having his two sons as members of the team...This, even though the French team had a worse record than on any of the previous Games...The irony of it all is that our coaches had to raise or put up a good portion of their expenses over for the privilege of coaching the American team, and Mr. Santelli is still in hopes that the Olympic Committee will see fit to reimburse him his money, which in France would come to about 4,000 f.----The Royal Belgian Fencing Federation will hold an international competition with the new electrical foil machine. It will serve as a testing ground, and if it proves efficient there is a great possibility that it will be adopted for the 1940 Olympic Games...The machine will also be used in the world Championships each year.
