NORMAN LEWIS WINS JUNIOR FOIL
Norman Lewis, co-captain of the N.Y.U. Varsity team, won the annual Raymond Jr. Foil Tournament held at the N.Y.A.C. Last year Lewis finished in a tie for first and was finally forced to content himself with the runner-up position. This year he was again forced into a fence-off for the prize, but managed to come out on top after a hard 5-4 bout with Maurice Grossen of Yale.
Twenty-seven entries were gradually weeded out until only six remained in the final round. Lewis and Grossen finished with 4 wins each. Grossen had lost to Lubell 5-4 and Lewis had dropped a 5-2 bout to Grossen. Lubell, of the Salle d’Armes Vince, placed third with 3 wins, while Gold (NYU), Kaplan (CCNY), and Hampart (CUNY) followed in that order.
