The second annual ball of the Columbia Rapier Club, honorary fencers' society of Columbia University, will again feature a smart collection of the cream of amateur and professional fencing talent in its exhibition bouts before the dance. The affair, to which all fencers and devotees of the sport have been invited, will be held in John Jay Hall on the Columbia Campus the evening of February 6th. General arrangements are under the direction of Ernest de la Ossa, manager of the Blue and White varsity team last year.

Exhibition bouts will be fenced in all weapons, and the evening will be climaxed by two such specialty matches as made the affair so popular last year. In foil, Hugh Alessandroni, of the Fencers Club, will oppose John Huffman of the N.Y. A.C. in one engagement, and Miss Marion Lloyd will fence Miss Dorothy Locke in the other bout. Epee competition will see Philip D. Wiedel, captain of the Columbia team, probably against Mr. Netter, the French Lycée Champion. It is hoped, also, that Bobby Grasseon, coach of the Yale team which will be in New York that evening, will accept an invitation to fence. His opponent will be chosen from the de Capriles family. The Yale team will also be invited to attend the affair with Mr. Grasseon.

In sabre, Norman Armitage and John Huffman have both signified their intention to participate and acceptances are being awaited from Peter Bruder and George Santelli as well. The specialty matches will feature Hugh Alessandroni in either a plume or a balloon duel against Dernell Every, and Julian Bush, member of the 1934 championship team from Columbia, will face his teammate Edard Matcosian in a foils-and-daggers bout for which they have been training.

Tickets for the exhibition and ball may be obtained from any member of the Rapier Club, members of the Columbia team, or Mr. de la Ossa, Hartley Hall, Columbia University. Bids are $1.50 a couple. Formal dress will be required on the dance floor, although spectators at the exhibition only may be informally attired.
