COLUMBIA WINS YALE TROPHY
The annual Washington’s Birthday sabre tournament held at Yale on the same plan as the Washington Square Cup was won by Columbia’s team of Bruce Wallis, Robert Drake, and Leo Vise, with 22 points. Yale nosed out the defending champions, N.Y.U., on touches after each had won 21 points. The Hartford Fencers Club was fourth with 20. The Yale JV, the Yale freshman teams, the New Haven Commercial High, and Hopkins Grammar School completed the field of ten teams.
Bruce Wallis was the high scorer, with a clean sweep of 9 bouts. Viseidi of Yale, Hirschner of N.Y.U., and Roudaikoff of Hartford each won 8.
