COMPETITION FOR ACTORS
An invitation tournament for the actor pupils of George Santelli, who are unable to participate in regular tournaments because of their work, was held here in New York for the first time.
Jules Garfield, late of the Group Theatre and now playing the lead in "Having a Wonderful Time", came first after a fence-off with Emmet Roger. James Truex, son of Ernest Truex and juvenile in "Tovarich", was third on touches over Richard Waring, the boy in "Boy Meets Girl". The other contestants were Mike Gordon, Martin Pollock, Alex Scourby, and Wesley Addi who finished in that order.
There were four prizes, the one for first being a pair of French foils with silver-chased hilts, and the others being medals.
