LUBELL WINS JUNIOR HAMMOND FOILS
Nathaniel Lubell, of the Salle d’Armes Vince, made a clean sweep of his final round matches to win the Hammond prize for junior foil fencers. Lubell used his experience to the best advantage. He warmed up gradually, reaching his peak when it counted most.
Frank Ingoglia, of the New York A.C., placed second. Ingoglia went through the entire tournament without a defeat until he met Lubell in the final round, where the latter upset him 5-3.
Sidney Kaplan, also of the Salle d’Armes Vince, placed third with two wins in the final.
