LONG ISLAND ELECTS WORKING COMMITTEES
The recently organized Long Island Division of the Amateur Fencers League of America has elected the following committees for the coming season:
Executive Committee:
Miguel A. de Capriles, Chairman
Mildred Stewart, Sec.-Treas.
George Burnham
Ardon Rathcoff
Austin Meegan
Membership Committee:
George Burnham
Jack Hillman
Mildred Stewart
Fred Kenny
Schedule Committee:
Larry Karp
Austin Meegan
Jack Hillman
Until the division is well under way, the major portion of the activity has been centered around Hofstra College which has provided the nucleus of the group. The college has 33 active undergraduates and it is hoped that the Nassau Fencers Club and several of the High Schools will soon take out memberships.
The division intends to hold an official Long Island Championship in each weapon, as well as a foil title match for the girls. In addition, the High Schools will be invited to enter a special meet for foil teams. Arrangements are being made by an alert Schedule Committee.
A group of older fencers will also be organized in the near future to provide activity for those no longer connected with a school.
