VAN BUSKIRK PREP WON BY MISS TREILING
Miss Erna Treiling, of the Greco Fencing Academy, won the opening meet of the women’s non-divisional fencing season. It was the annual prep competition for the Van Buskirk medal, and Miss Treiling was impressive in her victory over a relatively strong field. Miss Treiling’s clean sweep of her three final round bouts climaxed her performance, which to that time had included 6 victories and 1 loss.
Miss Grace Acel, of the Salle d’Armes Vince, placed second with two victories in the final after dropping one bout in the preliminary and semi-final rounds.
Miss Margaret Rosebault, of the Salle Scafati of New Jersey, earned third place by virtue of her victory over Miss Margaret Lancaster of the Fencers Club, the fourth finalist.
The field was the biggest in the history of the tournament, with twenty girls representing eight organizations.
