Miss Dorothy Grimmelmann, representing the Salle Santelli, made a clean sweep of her final round matches to win the Women’s Invitation Meet on December 9th. Miss Grimmelmann was very impressive throughout the long evening of fencing. She went through the preliminary and semi-final rounds with only one set-back, at the hands of Miss Alessandroni, 5-2. In the final round Miss Grimmelmann turned the tables 5-3.

Miss Maria Cerra and Mrs. Volkra tied for runner-up honors, but Miss Cerra placed second by the margin of two touches. Miss Cerra represented the Salle d’Armes Vince, while Mrs. Volkra wore the colors of the Salle Herman of Philadelphia. This was the first time New York has seen Mrs. Volkra in action, and she gave a good account of herself.

Miss Funke placed fourth with two wins, and Miss Dalton and Miss Alessandroni followed with one victory each.

Miss Lisel Lowenhertz, of the Greco Fencing Academy and runner-up in the Novice tournament, earned a qualifying place to the semifinal but was not feeling well and withdrew in favor of Miss Addi Bassi of the Metropolitan FC, who was the next in line. Later in the tournament, Miss Bassi barely missed reaching the finals when Miss Dalton nosed her out on the count of touches.
