SALLE SANTELLI WINS WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP
The Salle Santelli team composed of the Misses Dorothy Grimmelmann, Barbara Cochrane and Mildred Stewart won the Women’s Junior Team Championship held at the N.Y.U. gymnasium. This is the first year that the competition has been held as an official championship. Seven teams entered.
The Salle Santelli defeated the Waverly team (Mancinelli, Hafner and Harris), 5-3 in the final round. Miss Dorothy Grimmelmann proved the star of the evening, going through undefeated.
The Santelli team drew a bye in the first round, and then eliminated the Greco Fencing Academy in the semi-final. The Waverly Club reached the final by eliminating the Saltus Club and Metropolitan Club.
The disappointment of the evening was the failure of the Salle Vince to enter a team.
