An Exhibition by the San Francisco Fencing Club

The second invitation exhibition of the San Francisco Fencing Club was held last evening at 124 O’Farrell street. On the last occasion of this kind only gentlemen were present, but last evening there were quite as many ladies present as there were members of the other sex. The walls of the clubrooms wore a decidedly warlike appearance, being ornamented with rapiers, swords, foils, and similar weapons. The club has only existed about four months and it has now about sixty members. The officers are: President. G. Blanding; G. H. Buckingham, Secretary; Directors – Messrs. Flavin, Moody and Captain Payson. Ernest Wynne was President of the evening. The exhibition was very interesting and the participants were loudly applauded. Following is the programme of contests:
Part first – Messrs. W. N. Drown and Hulm, H. R. Ashton Fry and D. Hayne, F. A Chapuis and H. Ansot. G. Blanding and L. Tronchet. Passe d’Armes – Messrs. G. H. Buckingham and L. Tronchet. Part second – Messrs. L. Tronchet and H. Ansot, D. Hayne and Easton, C. de Mezerville and G. H. Buckingham. A. H. Payson and H. R Ashton Fry. Duel: Rapiers – Messrs. G. Blanding and L. Tronchet. Sabres – Messrs. L. Tronchet and H. Ansot.
